Program Description

The Culinary Arts program combines elements of artistry, science and business skills to prepare students for an exciting career in Food Service. Students will study principles of food preparation, quantity production, equipment layout and operation management. Students are involved in preparation and serving experiences in the food service lab and receive additional opportunities in catering, ice sculpting and food presentation. The Culinary Arts program at Blackhawk Technical College has been honored by the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) board with the Exemplary Educational Service Award. Refunds are processed according to the Wisconsin Technical College System Refund Policy for program, material and activity fees. To receive refunds, you must formally request refunds from Registration and Records by notifying them of your intent to drop a class(es) or completely withdraw from all classes. Requests for refunds must be received during the same term of enrollment. Refund requests are time-sensitive as each day that passes may affect the amount of refund you are eligible.

MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
